The History of Video Recording Presentation and Social Event

Just a reminder that tonight, Wednesday 19th of February, 2020 (from 7pm to 10pm WST), the Pictures in Motion Film and Television Museum, has a free presentation on the history of video recording.

We’re hopeful that many television veterans will attend, where social mingling and reminiscing with old workmates, will be part of the evening.

This will all be introduced by science teacher and historian, Richard Rennie, who will explain that the first video recordings were made in the 1920’s, and which still exist to this day.

The history of this will then be traced right through the videotape era, to the solid state, high definition and widescreen of today.

Not only that, put part two, after a break for refreshments, the story will continue, showing how television techniques have been adopted by the movie making industry, where video recordings have now replaced film, with the cinemas adopting modern day digital projectors, for their screenings.

Then we’ll have a preview of our next classic movie attraction at the heritage listed Cygnet Cinema, in Como.

Finally, we’ll give you a glimpse of what activities the members of our museum, engage in, and hopefully encourage you to join us on our quest, to preserve the memory, and artefacts of our industry.

And importantly, remember all the fine people who made it happen.

The venue will the R.S.L. Hall in East Victoria Park, off Hill View Terrace, midway between Albany Highway and Manning Road.

Its easiest to approach from Albany Highway.
