Chula Vista: Bank Robbery Suspect Crashes 05292019

A male matching the description of the “Jig Saw Bandit” from San Diego walked into the CalCoast Credit Union. A teller spotted him and hit the silent alarm. The suspect walked up to a teller and demanded money. he was given a large sum of cash. A customer spotted the situation and called the Police and gave a description of the suspect’s car.
As officers were arriving, they spotted the suspect and attempted to pull him over. The suspect fled heading eastbound on E. “H” St.
The suspect reached speeds of 80 mph. He was blowing through red lights. The suspect turned southbound on Rutgers Ave. At the intersection of Rutgers Ave and Otay Lakes Rd, he ran the Stop Light.
An older man T-boned the suspects’ car, which in turn, hit a second vehicle being driven by a female. The suspect then went into a light pole. The male victim was seriously injured with a broken pelvis and leg and more injuries. He was rushed to Mercy Hospital.
The suspect had to be cut out of his vehicle. The suspect also has serious injuries and was transported to Mercy Hospital. Otay Lakes Rd has been shut down in both directions. SDPD Detectives are at the scene.
