CANYON AEROAD: 98km/h CRASH Descending Mont Ventoux

"MONT VENTOUX - missing turns & melting brakes" On a Friday afternoon me and my friends ascended the epic climb of the Mont Ventoux. After all reaching the top we started our descend, close to beginning of twilight.

After our water stop at 05:30 the pace really goes up, reaching top speeds of 94,5km/h and my buddy 97,5km/h (garmin gps data).

Halfway the descent disaster struck. (11:05) One of us misjudged a turn and missed it completely ending up in the bush.Luckily only having some scratches he walked away from it. The bike had a cracked front wheel.

We still had to descend the rest of the Ventoux so went down on a slight adjusted pace.

Despite of the lower speeds, I started to get problems with my front brake. The direct mounted brakes of the Aeroad in combination with the Mavic exalith wheels start to overheat at 14:00. Because of asymmetrical brake force (exact problem still unknown) the left brake pad completely melted away.... (Brakes where perfectly centered when I started the ride and I use the special Mavic exalith brake pads)
