When we meet again: the future hold for offline events and gathering as a community
Multiple businesses, initiatives and professions are built on human interaction, and require physical proximity and sufficient scale as a prerequisite for success. The fabric of meaningful community engagement is derived from creating interpersonal relationships, and in many cases depends on the presence of enough participants or attendees to unleash a ‘network effect’ or ‘audience reception’. What happens when this in-person aspect of the business becomes endangered? How much can we shift or move these efforts online? Is it worth it if it doesn’t save the same purpose as the offline version? What are the challenges in doing so and would this require an entirely different skill-set and approach compared to before?
Who are the panelists?
Marlies Bloemendaal, Ministry of New
Sarah Chawla, Wild City & Magnetic Fields Festival
Sanna Vohra, The Wedding Brigade
Mallika Parekh, Physique 57
Archana Walavalkar, StyleCracker
Kaveri Acharya, Communications Consultant
Khrisha Shah, Dysco
Who is it for?
Diverse entrepreneurs whose work involves creating, curating and bringing people together for community interaction and engagement offline. This could range across weddings, coworking, art + music festivals, fashion weeks, networking events and shopping festivals too.
Some questions we hope to address through this virtual round table:
What does it take to make the transition from offline to online?
What do we have to give up to make that transition?
Could we oscillate between the two?
Are we ready and willing to assume health responsibility of participants?
What are some new roles and skills that will be needed in the post-covid events space?
Would it make financial sense to host in-person events in the near post-covid future?
Does an offline version offer the same value to everyone else as before? Is it a whole new offering?
