Police have registered a case under the Arms Act in connection with the death of a 22-year-old college student from Mapusa, who was recently linked to a viral garbage-littering incident on social media.

According to police, a country-made firearm and an empty cartridge were allegedly recovered from the student’s residence during the inquest and scene panchanama conducted after the incident. Preliminary findings suggest that the firearm did not have a valid licence.

Based on these observations, police have registered an offence under the relevant provisions of the Arms Act for alleged illegal possession of a firearm. Further investigation into the case is underway.
