The Food and Drugs Administration (FDA) conducted a surveillance drive across Candolim, Anjuna, Vagator and Mapusa on July 16, 2026, inspecting restaurants, retailers, food vending establishments and wholesalers.

A total of 17 food businesses were inspected, with nine units directed to suspend operations due to non-compliance with food safety norms. The team also visited the Mapusa Alankar area to continue inspections and review the status of outlets that had previously been ordered to shut down.

The FDA stated that such surveillance drives will continue across Goa and warned food business operators to comply with all stipulated regulations, failing which licences may be suspended or penalties imposed under Section 69 of the Food Safety and Standards Act, 2006.

The inspection team included Richard Noronha, Lenin De Sa, Amit Mandrekar and Darlane Diukar, working under the guidance of Shweta Dessai.
