GREEN DAY: How did they get so big?

My analysis of why and how Green Day became one of the biggest rock bands of their generation. Some of what I cover:

- Green Day's roots in the early 90s Bay Area DIY punk scene, centered around the legendary venue 924 Gilman Street, also home to my favorite bands like Spazz, Capitalist Casualties and Dystopia as well as zines like Maximumrocknroll and Cometbus

- Signing to Lookout Records and the success of Kerplunk that got the attention of major labels

- How they played with bands like Neurosis, Destroy, and Filth

- My opinion on whether they "sold out" by signing to a major label and releasing "Dookie" (spoiler warning: absolutely not)

- Some of the things they've done to support 924 Gilman and the DIY punk community since then (like Steve Aoki and his Dim Mak Records)
