Wheeler Peak is the highest point in New Mexico at 13,167 feet. Located in the Sangre de Christo range of the Rocky Mountains in northern New Mexico you’ll find this peak in the Carson National Forest. The region around the mountain is rich in history and culture. The Taos Pueblo is one of the oldest continually inhabited communities in North America. Over the centuries this area has seen more than its fair share of conflict and upheaval but it has continued to endure and remains a beautiful and culturally vibrant place to enjoy.
