Rachmaninoff, Symphony No. 3

Sergei Rachmaninoff wrote his Symphony No. 3 in A Minor, Op. 44 between 1935 and 1936.
It was first performed on November 6, 1936 by the Philadelphia Orchestra conducted by Leopold Stokowski.
Despite the opinion of critics, Rachmaninoff was convinced that the Third Symphony was one of his best works.

The symphony consists of three parts:
1. Lento — Allegro Moderato — Allegro 0:03
2. Adagio Ma Non Troppo — Allegro Vivace 13:46
3. Allegro — Allegro Vivace — Allegro (Tempo Primo) — Allegretto — Allegro Vivace 26:02
