Limpopo can't get enough of Adine and baby elephant, Khanyisa while out foraging

Out of the herd's 12 or so hour day out in the reserve, we bring you almost 50 minutes of their time together, foraging, walking, bonding and communicating... We start at the orphanage as carer, Khensani and Adine head out with Khanyisa to meet up with the herd. It's a bit of an overcast day which is great for the elephants and Khanyisa, as the heat tends to be more draining energy-wise. Tokwe and then Timisa follow after Khanyisa as they move through the bush to the areas where the best foraging is in the reserve - as the seasons change, certain parts of the wilderness hold onto greater green thickets of various vegetation for the elephants to eat - especially areas with water sources nearby.

Tokwe's oldest daughter, Limpopo is particularly loving and attentive of both Khanyisa and Adine in this video! She spends the morning following Khanyisa around and foraging next to her, but wants plenty of attention from Adine too. Adine reminds her that she should go play with Lundi who is an elephant, unlike Adine. Sometimes the elephants need reminding...

Tokwe keeps an eye on everything constantly and checks up on her daughter from time to time, as well as the other females. Adine walks around trying to find all the elephants, with carers Godknows and Joshua. Beautiful Kumbura also comes to join in and find out how her favourite little elephant is doing. Timisa comes in close, and you see a beautiful view of her eyes and little tusks.

Adine follows Lundi through the bush and is greeted by Kumbura who lets out some rather smelly gas that Adine reacts to. Godknows points out a beautiful nest of a Paradise Flycatcher bird between the bushes.

The team spot Fishan enjoying a light sleep in the bush. Fishan then comes to join the others and stands close to Zindoga - Bubi likes being alone in the bush but also loves her time with Fishan and so follows after him often. Jabulani takes on Fishan and the two big bulls get into a pushing match. With Fishan being more vulnerable due to his recovery from the leg injury, the bulls try to exert their power over him and try their luck with him more - which is why he now spends more time with the female elephants. Jabulani is already above him in title as a bull, having pushed Fishan down a rung in the bull hierarchy, but Fishan does his best to remind him that he still has strength and power and deserves respect, by pushing back in the sparring matches.

Adine reveals how to identify Bubi, with her tusks, tail and trunk being quite distinctive. Enjoy some time beside this beautiful elephant and allomother to Khanyisa. Again Limpopo stays close to Khanyisa as the two graze, and Khanyisa pulls the leaves off the branches and pushes them into her mouth. She also enjoys some time beside the Matriarch, Tokwe and Lundi - all the females close together for extra support and protection out in the wilderness.

We hope you enjoy these peaceful moments with the elephants!
