Indya Moore Pose Speed Painting

The category is: live...paint...pose! :D

This watercolor was so challenging, but it's one of those pictures I felt utterly compelled to paint. It wasn't hard to find great reference photos from Pose, one of my favorite shows. But I was immediately drawn in by this one's unusual light, colors, and (of course) the stunning Indya Moore, who plays Angel and is seen here in one of Pose's many ballroom sequences. I cropped the original picture, which was a promotional photo from FX, so the focus was entirely on Indya. Once I cropped it, I was reminded of religious iconography from art history. So fabulous.

The light in this video washes out the colors of my painting slightly.

I've got to say I am expecting to lose followers on YouTube and social media because of this video. After posting a few sneak-previews on my Instagram Stories last week, ten people unfollowed me. This is a very small percentage of my followers, but I noticed it nonetheless. Honestly, if my painting LGBTQIA+ subjects offended those people, I am not sad to see them go. I would happily paint Indya every day of the week if I could. :)

Nail polish: nothing! I'm giving my fingernails the summer off and rubbing Elon nail conditioner on them every chance I get. It's amazing how damaging nail polish can be when used nonstop for a long time. :)
