Using Power Probe III to diagnose switch / wiring issues

Using my Power Probe III to diagnose a boat's 12v electrical system. The probe can be found online for around $100 and very useful working on any ATVs, go karts, boats, trucks, SUVs, and cars etc.

Start by ensuring the accessory in question works by apply power or ground at the accessory. If that works move up the wiring. In this case, the light works when powered directly but the switch didn't work. As shown, the on/off switch was connected to the light but not a 12v power source which already existed but was unhooked.
