How to Use Convert Function In Excel

In this Excel Function Explained video series, I’ll disclose how to use Convert function in Excel. Excel Convert function is frequently used to convert one measurement units to another. Suppose you want to convert mile to kilometer in excel, or you need to convert Fahrenheit to Celsius, or pounds to kilogram or even feet to cm all these and many more can be done using the convert function in excel. Convert function is available in each version of Excel starting from Excel 2013.
Using Convert function, you’ll be able to convert certain number from one unit to another.
Things you can do using Convert function in excel is to tell to display certain number in different units based on your preference.

Let’s study how to use Replace formula in excel.

The Function looks like this = REPLACE (Number, From_Unit, To_Unit)

The Convert function has three parameters or arguments and they are self-explanatory but for your convenience I’m explaining each parameter below.

1. Number: in this parameter, we need to either write the number or specify the
cell from where we need to convert the unit.
2. From Unit: This is where you write the unit name of the number you have selected earlier.
3. To Unit: Now write the unit you need to convert your number to.

Before using this function remember that, convert function is case sensitive, all the parameters should be as listed on Microsoft’s website and they must be inside double quotation. Also, you must conversion unit that is convertible. For example; distance cannot be measured with Celsius and thus it is not convertible.
