What hooklink for big carp?

I use 12lb zig hooklink and I’m fishing for 30’s, 40’s and 50’s in open water. Many anglers think we have to use 25lb or 35lb material for hooklink to catch big carp. If you take a 3lb rod to full test curve, you’re only ever putting 3lb load on the line (unless you do a direct pull and go straight to the clutch). So a 12lb rated strength hooklink is 4 times stronger than the maximum test curve of the rod, so it's not an issue and it's been working extremely well for me.
