Certaldo Alto si trova raccolta all’interno delle mura medievali su un colle. Geograficamente si trova nella Val d'elsa, una zona della Toscana a cavallo tra provincia di Siena e di Firenze.
Per arrivare nel borgo storico potrai percorrere le ripide vie antiche oppure prendere la moderna funicolare.
Per quanto ami camminare ti consiglio assolutamente di salire sulla funicolare. Perché? perché il viaggio, seppur breve, è molto suggestivo e grazie ai grandi vetri del mezzo potrai ammirare il paese dall’alto e dal basso. Nel piccolo centro storico, detto anche “Castello”, ti perderai sicuramente tra i suoi vicoli pittoreschi e soprattutto proverai un atmosfera diversa dal normale.
Il borgo è famoso perché qui è nato lo scrittore e poeta italiano Giovanni Boccaccio e nel suo centro storico potrai visitare la sua casa natale. In ogni caso prima di parlare del borgo di cosa vedere a Certaldo soffermiamoci un attimo alla sua storia.

Certaldo Alto is located within the medieval walls on a hill. Geographically it is located in the Val d'elsa, an area of Tuscany between the provinces of Siena and Florence.
To get to the historic village you can walk the steep ancient streets or take the modern funicular.
As much as you love walking, I definitely recommend getting on the funicular. Because? because the journey, albeit short, is very impressive and thanks to the large windows of the vehicle you can admire the country from above and below. In the small historic center, also known as the "Castle", you will certainly get lost in its picturesque alleys and above all you will experience a different atmosphere than normal.
The village is famous because the Italian writer and poet Giovanni Boccaccio was born here and in its historic center you can visit his birthplace. In any case, before talking about the village and what to see in Certaldo, let's stop for a moment on its history.
