Episode 160 of Love At First Scent PART TWO

This was a YouTube Live broadcast streamed on Thursday 28th January 2021. Unscripted. Unedited. Unrehearsed.

In this episode, I presented my list of the Top 10 best romantic perfumes, to mark the approach of Valentine’s Day 2021.

The internet gremlins were up to their old tricks again today, with the result that the video had to be split in two. In Part One, this is what we covered:

Here’s the blotter update:

- It’s interesting comparing Pichola with Seville A L’Aube (from Part One) because in their drydowns, they absolutely display several signs of having been made by the same person: the milky-woodiness, the expert use of musks, the purity of the incense note. Pichola is spicier and perhaps richer and more opulent. The Guerlain becomes more burnt-ambery as it approaches its final stages. I really should wear it more often: its smoothness is quite breathtaking. The Arquiste plays its gardenia tune with commendable clarity all the way through to the end: the dandy’s outfit is completely unruffled. And the Malle is gently mossy (without becoming too inky-metallic) and, with its gracefulness and weightlessness, totally justifies the use of ‘Eau’ in its name.
