Fatal Apartment Fire at Donnelly Homes Leaves One Dead in Trenton

A person has died following a fire at the Mayor Donnelly Homes housing complex in Trenton, New Jersey.

The fire broke out shortly before 10 p.m. in an apartment building located between Southard Street and Martin Luther King Jr. Boulevard. Trenton firefighters arrived to find heavy fire conditions coming from a third-floor apartment.

Fire crews quickly attacked the blaze and conducted searches of the building. One deceased occupant was removed from the structure. Four additional residents were transported to Capital Health Regional Medical Center for treatment of smoke inhalation.

The fire was brought under control a short time later. The cause remains under investigation by the Trenton Fire Department, the New Jersey State Fire Marshal's Office, and the Mercer County Prosecutor's Office.
