Take back our food system: grow something | Jason McCobb | TEDxBocaRaton
With the belief that the garden is an extension of nature and something that must be protected and nurtured, Jay never uses pesticides, synthetic chemicals or any other adversity. In addition to the farming, Farmer Jay also builds gardens and helps people grow food. Jay has started a program for children called Farmer Jay Sprouts and a program for older kids and adults called Farm School, where people learn about Sustainable Agriculture. To date Farmer Jay has 27 classes, has seen close to 2,000 children and adults come through his programs, and has built over 200 gardens for homeowners, restaurants, and schools.
Jason McCobb is an expert in Sustainable Agriculture specializing in Urban Gardening dedicated to starting a local food system. Jason gained most of his experience in Sonoma, California from Bob Cannard, long time farmer for Alice Waters and her critically acclaimed restaurant Chez Panisse.
This talk was given at a TEDx event using the TED conference format but independently organized by a local community. Learn more at http://ted.com/tedx
