I wish more coaches knew this baseball strategy when it comes to cut-offs.

Unfortunately most coaches teach to get the ball the the SS which could be the worse thing to do in this situation.

With. Runner on third and a routine fly ball to LF, the 3B drops into the grass as the cut off and the MIF swing around to cover the bases while the pitcher backs up.

Because on a routine fly ball we line up cut-offs one base ahead of the lead runner.

This allows the 3B to get there in plenty of time and have the whole field of play in front of him to either cut, relay, or let it go.
