"Nautic Spiral" A Stained Glass Mosaic Time Lapse Process by Kasia Polkowska

This time lapse video depicts stained glass mosaic artist Kasia Polkowska working on her mosaic "Nautic Spiral" from start to finish. Every piece of glass including the glass circles are hand cut by Kasia using hand tools (glass scoring tool, running pliers and flat-tip steal nippers). Kasia has created a few spiral or "Koru" shaped mosaics which are now becoming a theme in her work. The theme of "many within the whole" is not just meaning behind a line but an ideal that relates to "mosaic" as well. The spiral (koru) shape is based on the unfurling of a silver fern and symbolizes new life, growth, strength and peace. This latest aquatic spiral further symbolizes circulation and life.
