Do you know what a seroma is?

We say you can start scar massage as long as there are no stitches, staples, infections, haematomas or seromas.

But what is it?

After surgery sometimes you can get a pocket or build up of clear fluid sometimes when you touch the skin it can ripple or it is hard, this could be a seroma. You should always get this checked out by your GP or Health Practitioner. Sometimes it will need draining something the GP will wait and let the body absorb it.

It is so important to check that your scar is ready before applying any massage techniques and this is an important one to look for.

Once your good to go you can start scar massage from that 4-6 week window.
