India is witnessing a severe second wave of Covid-19 and many states are struggling to cope with the rising Coronavirus numbers. India's most populous state Uttar Pradesh (UP) is among the worst affected states in the country. Yogi government claims that the situation is under control and there is no scarcity of medical liquid oxygen (MLO) and medicine. However, situation on ground is entirely different. Common people are suffering. Most of the Hospitals are full. Many Hospitals are turning away patients.
Prayagraj, one of the largest cities of Uttar Pradesh, is also reeling under a severe second wave of COVID-19. Prayagraj (Allahabad) administration claimed that new covid cases in the district were on decrease on two consecutive days, on April 24 and 25. Administration also claimed that only 11 people died of COVID on April 25. To verify these numbers and check the ground situation, Team Lallantop visited Swaroop Rani Nehru (SRN) Hospital in Prayagraj. Here, inside the emergency ward, a health worker told us that the hospitals are over-crowded. They have to turn away patients as the hospital beds are already full.
