Along the Blackstone, Episode 66 - "We Can Do IT!" The CCC in the Blackstone Valley
Think about it for a moment - millions out of work, a nation in despair, America's most valuable resources; its land and people being wasted. Quite a challenge for a new President, but the year isn't 2008, but 1932 and the President is Franklin Delano Roosevelt. One of his first major actions, the creation of the CCC's (Civilian Conservation Corps) was to put people back to work. Join us as we explore the story of the CCC's and their motto, "We Can Take It!" which was proven time and again as the C's built our National Parks, multiple state parks throughout the nation, cleaned up after the '37 Hurricane, put out wildfires and performed countless other major public service works.
