Two of Us

One of the many complex and unpredictable moving parts in life, is finding the right partner to marry or settle down with. Many of us hope that we find someone with at least some similar interests and shared goals. Don’t look for a carbon copy of yourself! One of me is enough! Different perspectives are very important….After Juilliard, I did come to the personal realization that I did not want to partner with another string player! God no! So about 35 years ago I accidentally bumped into a singer. Funny enough, the attraction was not music per se, it was an intense emotional and spiritual attraction. Music was secondary. In fact we did not do any musical collaborations together for years. We had completely different music careers. Then we got smart! By partnering and collaborating, while still fiercely independent, we got far stronger. While I was film composing, and stuck on a melody idea, Laura would walk into my studio, listen once, and come up with the prefect melody more times then not! That happened many times as we owned a very successful TV and Film production company. But our true musical force, was one such collaboration with an original song on Laura’s record called “2 of us” Please watch this video live from our music camp MWROC a few years ago. It is a challenge for me to perform, because I cry every time we perform this! We will be performing this live at the dedication of my father’s art gallery this weekend, honoring my parent’s love and partnership of a powerful 50 year marriage……
