Rounds 1-6 of the 2009 AMA Motocross Championship Series (Round 7-12 film is in our other videos) https://youtu.be/uR7wzMOZtpY
This is the official and action-packed story of one of the most memorable seasons of American motocross ever.
Riders who competed in the 2009 AMA Pro MX series: 450 Class - Chad Reed, Andrew Short, Ivan Tedesco, Michael Byrne, Tommy Hahn, Josh Grant, Justin Brayton, Nick Wey, Cody Cooper, Jimmy Albertson, Davi Millsaps, Matt Goerke, Mike Alessi, Ricky Dietrich, Jake Moss, Kyle Regal, Tyler Bowers, Antonio Balbi, Jeff Alessi, Tim Ferry, Jet Browne, Weston Peick, Daniel Reardon, Ryan Villopoto, Josh Hill, Jason Thomas, Chris Blose, Adam Chatfield, Jason Lawrence, Kyle Summers, Robby Marshall, Christian Craig, Ben LaMay, John Dowd, Gaveth Swanepoel, Mike Brown, Robbie Kiniry, Justin Sipes, Gavin Gracyk, Bobby Bonds, Clement Desalle, Les Smith, Ricky Renner, Jase Lewis, Justin McDonald, Troy Adams, Jesse Casillas, Bobby Fitch, Travis Sewell, Roberto Castro.
250 Class - Ryan Dungey, Christophe Pourcel, Brett Metcalfe, Jake Weimer, Justin Barcia, Tommy Searle, Broc Tickle, Blake Wharton, Tyla Rattray, Matthew Lemoine, Kyle Cunningham, Darryn Durham, Trey Canard, Ben Evans, Steven Clarke, PJ Larsen, Austin Stroupe, Max Anstie, Wil Hahn, Alex Martin, Ryan Sipes, Sean Borkenhagen, Vince Friese, Taylor Futrell, Blake Baggett, Tucker Hibbert, Martin Davalos, Michael Hall, Scott Champion, Kyle Regal, WIlly Browning, Michael Willard, Lucas Crespi, Ryan Morais, Topher Ingalls, Phil Nicoletti, Cole Seely, Levi Kilbarger, Tommy Week, Eric Nye, Justin Weeks, Kevin Windham, Jimmy Decotis, Luke George, Tye Hames, Ryan Clark, Donald Vawser, Matiss Karro, Ryan Abrigo, Spencer Dally, Drew Yenerich, Kyle Tobin, Bruce Rutherford, TOny Sherman, Branden Miller, Christopher Gosselaar, Billy Ainsworth, Michael Stryker, Rustin Meyer, Kyle Gills.
We bring you comprehensive highlights from all 12 rounds, from California to Pennsylvania, as the battles for the titles in both the 450 and 250 AMA MX classes go right down to the wire.
It was one of the closest fought 450 championships in a decade, with seven different winners, and the competition was just as fierce in 250.
The Lucas Oil AMA Motocross Championships were packed with surprises and great racing.
Disc 1 here covers the first six rounds at Glen Helen, Hangtown, Freestone, High Point, Thunder Valley and Red Bud. Disc 2 covers the last half of the season at Millville, Washougal, Unadilla, Budds Creek, Southwick and Steel City. Each round starts with highlights from both 250 motos and then moves to the pair of 450 races. Not having it bounce back and forth is nice, and while the 450 class was good, I just wanted to fast-forward to the next 250 battle! Those guys are madmen. Racing action in the quarter-liter division had me bouncing around and making moto noises on the couch. It was great to watch Tommy Searle come out swinging in the early rounds before he dropped off around the season’s halfway point. Conversely, Jake Weimer really found his groove after getting a few under his belt. Eventual champion, Ryan Dungey, was doggedly determined and Frenchman Christophe Pourcel proved unnervingly cunning. However, Brett Metcalfe emerged as my favorite rider to root for. That guy fought for every position on every lap – like all the other riders had a grudge against him. He and teammate Justin Barcia, a rookie, were the most exciting riders to watch.
Each moto gets about 10 minutes of coverage, so about 40 minutes per race venue. It’s like watching the SPEED broadcast without the commercials.
