Finnish Shipowners Case (Finland v UK) (Local remedies rule)
In this international law case, shipowners from Finland whose vessels had been requisitioned during the first world war sought compensation. In order to determine whether this question could be settled in international law, the arbitrator had to consider whether the Finns had exhausted the legal remedies available to them in Great Britain.
