GIZ: Why integrated information systems make sense. 2018

Many low-income countries with external support and multiple social protection programmes implement programmes to address the needs of poor and vulnerable households.

At the local level, teams working on behalf of the programmes are constantly out in communities, visiting the same households to gather more or less the same information, using people's precious time and absorbing limited resources.

Once collected, they feed the household data into their different programmes' databases and IT systems – systems that were created without interoperability in mind, so that information exchange between the different programmes is impossible. What a waste… In this video we propose a different approach: An integrated information system.
