Chance - The Teardrop Explodes (BBC Peel Session Plus 1979)

From The Teardrop Explodes, this is Chance from BBC Peel Sessions. Greetings all! Just a quick note to my friends out there who have always been so supportive (and checking for my pulse now and again! LOL!) and to new friends who are have been finding, liking, and sharing some of the old vids....THANK YOU!!! Its been such a long time since I uploaded a video (Ooh ooh such a long time!)...actually over a year, the longest break I've ever taken. Still not having the time I used to be able to find to play around with the video hobby, but I've actually been messing around with some things a little bit lately (during those few free hours I do find), and maybe I'll get a thing or two rolled out soon. Till that someday...peace, love, and understanding to everyone out there that might be receiving!

This little deal was crafted very uncarefully in a matter of little over an hour, mainly just to upload something that would activate a feature that I find no longer available once you don't upload any new videos for a year, I'd had the clip for sometime and it worked really great with a couple things I'd tried with it....then I came across this song and thought of this clip. I didn't know the song before I heard it on the 2010 Deluxe Edition of The Teardrop Explodes 1980 album Kilimanjaro. The song was recorded in 1979 for the BBC Peel Sessions, and it was included as an extra with that edition.

The Teardrop Explodes were one of those bands that mostly escaped me when they were popular back in the days when I was discovering all this new music, but I did buy the Kilimanjaro album in college, but it was one of those albums that you have for years and don't really learn to appreciate until after having it in you collection for so many years. I came back around to The Teardrop Explodes a decade after buying Kilimanjaro...in 1991 exactly because that's the year Julian Cope released Peggy Suicide and I was deeply into that album for awhile.

I only recently picked up the Deluxe Kilimanjaro from 2010 and first heard a song listed as "Chance (BBC Session Plus 1979)"....which was one of my favorites from a bunch great songs I'd never heard before by the band...and I also really loved all the live performances. Found out that the song was included on an album called Peel Sessions Plus (which was released in 2007, three years before the deluxe Kilimanjaro). I see Peel Sessions Plus contains most of the bonus tracks from deluxe Kilimanjaro, but it also had many more that were not included there. It appears available on several streaming sites, I've not listened to it yet, but hope to soon.

So to summarize :-) 1.) hello and thanks! to everyone!, 2.) I've managed to upload something, 3.) I don't have much free time, but I miss making vids and the interaction with other music fans that love the music that I love, and, 4.) don't make the same mistake I made and miss appreciating The Teardrop Explodes....Kilimanjaro is one of my new favorite albums. Kilimanjaro is an album that will pay off if you give it a chance to sink in.

Sorry for the hot mess of titling for this video, I was all over the map....to clarify; "Chance" was recorded in 1979, and not originally included on Kilimanjaro in 1980. It was released on an obscure BBC Peel Sessions album in 2007, but probably became accessible and known after it was released as one of the bonus tracks on Kilimanjaro's 3 CD Deluxe set in 2010.

Love to hear from other fans of The Teardrop Explodes, especially if they who might know more about the history of this song! Not sure why this cool tune was so buried for so long. I'd also appreciate and would credit anyone who had the lyrics....or could take their best shot at 'em?! :-)
