RTÉ News reports on the death of Irish-born Vietnam War veteran Michael Coyne. Born in Corr Na Moná in County Galway in 1945, Coyne emigrated to America aged 16. He was drafted into the US Army and was sent to Vietnam with D Company in the 11th Armored Cavalry in 1967.

Coyne was awarded five Purple Hearts and two Bronze Stars for Bravery, including one for saving fellow soldiers while under fire in the middle of a minefield. Coyne eventually returned to Ireland and settled in Jenkinstown in County Meath. He died in hospital in Blanchardstown on 9th August 2020, aged 75, after a short illness.
