The Different Types of Internet Connections
When it comes to connecting your home network to the internet, you have a few different choices when it comes to your internet connection. There are 3 main ways you can connect your home to the internet, and there are different performance characteristics for each of them:
•DSL (Digital Subscriber Line): DSL internet provides your home with an internet connection through the telephone wires connected to your home. This type of internet connection provides the lowest amount of bandwidth to your home, but it’s also the cheapest type of internet connection
•Cable: Cable internet is the most commonly used internet connection type today. Cable internet connections utilize the coaxial cable connections that provide (or used to provide) cable television to your home. Cable internet provides faster internet speeds than DSL, and cable internet plans are faster as a result
•Fiber: Fiber internet connections utilize fiber-optic cables to provide your home with an internet connection. Fiber internet is not available in all areas, because it does not use existing infrastructure like DSL and cable internet plans do. Fiber-optic cables need to be dug and placed into the ground, and then your home needs to have a fiber cable wired to your home. If Fiber internet is available in your area, however, it provides unmatched internet performance. Fiber internet plans are the fastest (and most expensive) plans available today
Conclusion
