Cheap DIY Jerkstopper Alternative for Photoshoot Tethering Cable Management
In this video I'm going to show you how to make a cheap (in my case FREE) Do-It-Yourself DIY solution that rivals one of the many Jerkstopper cable products from Tether Tools.
When doing tethered photoshooting in-studio and especially remotely, a cable connecting your laptop to your camera can be a tripping hazard. These cables can also sometimes come loose or disconnected during a shoot, resulting in an incomplete session. Well, in case of an accident, or in my case, a potentially wobbly or less-secure connection, it's sometimes important to have a device that can reduce the stress on the camera's USB or HDMI port itself, and also allow for a more secure connection to eliminate any disconnects. Some may opt to purchase one of the many JerkStopper tools from Tether Tools. However, I opted for this simple DIY/homemade solution which secures cable connection to the camera, and was completely free for me (or less than a couple of dollars) if you don't already have a key ring. This solution is nothing more than a zip tie and a key ring with a spring-loaded locking clasp. That's it! It's cheap, simple, and effective.

So whether you're doing tethering and using Adobe Lightroom Classic, Capture One from Phase One, Smartshooter from Tether Tools, or any other software that connects your camera to your computer, this small DIY tip can enhance the connection security of your cable for little or no cost.
