Good Times Bad Times - Led Zeppelin - Drum Cover by Keith B.

It seems amazing for me to think that as the first song on the first Led Zeppelin album, "Good Times Bad Times" is effectively John Bonham's debut. That's because it is one of the greatest syncopated drum beats ever, and it came from the mind and creativity of a then 20 year old. It is one of many examples why, in my opinion, Bonham is neck and neck with Neal Peart as the greatest rock drummer ever. This was a really hard song for me to cover, and there are a number of "cheats" throughout. I leave out the hi-hat stomp on the 8th notes Bonham plays along with the cowbell throughout the verses, as my left foot could not coordinate with my right (trust me, I tried). I am doing the fast "triplet" kick beats with two feet (using double bass) instead of one (Bonham had amazing right foot speed and power), and even then they are a bit sloppy. I leave out one kick stroke in part of the main beat, where again my right foot would not cooperate. Finally, based on the nature of the mix, it was hard to pick out Bonham's kick part during the chorus/lead break, so I may not be playing his exact beat there. Wow - this reads like a "Warning" label on a medicine bottle!! Well, with that said, and all necessary caveats provided, here it is (and listen at your own risk...).
