00:00 - Welcome from Freddy Gray
01:40 - Vaccine passports: an assault on liberty? With Sir Mark Walport
16:11 - Is Britain boring? With Douglas Murray
30:32 - Politics update: What is Boris's social care plan?
39:37 - Afghanistan: is the West right to leave? With Tom Tugendhat and Andrew Cockburn
52:52 - Is Western civilisation in decline? With Sam Leith
VACCINE PASSPORTS
This week, vaccine passports made a comeback— perhaps they never really went away — and now Britain is struggling to cope with the ‘pingdemic’, as the NHS app forces hundreds of thousands of people to isolate every week. Has the government lost the plot? Kate Andrews and Mark Walport will be on the show to discuss.
IS BRITAIN BORING?
And maybe it’s not just the government that’s forgotten what freedom means. Douglas Murray comes on to discuss the British public’s strange loathing for the idea of anybody having fun.
SOCIAL CARE
Boris Johnson, Keir Starmer and health secretary Sajid Javid are all isolating during what’s meant to be party week in Westminster. Katy Balls and James Forsyth will give us the latest with a politics update.
AFGHANISTAN WITHDRAWAL
We will then turn to Afghanistan. Is the West right to leave? Andrew Cockburn thinks so, and he’ll speak to Tom Tugendhat, who disagrees.
SWANKY CAR
And finally, The Spectator’s literary editor Sam Leith had his surprisingly swanky keyless car stolen last week. We discuss the rise of convenience technology and the decline of western civilisation.
