What kind of compensation is available after a car accident? Specifically, how are you paid for wages lost because of time off from job you need to take to recover? This is referred to as "wage loss".
The most common way of determining coverage is if someone's got a job, and are paid at a rate that can be defined in hourly terms, then that amount would be paid to you in your claim.
The trick is documenting this. No insurance company will take anyone at their word, so it becomes really important to be able to prove what you're paid so you can ask for that amount in your claim. For example, if you're paid $50 per hour for forty hours a week, and you have been unable to return to work for three weeks after an accident, you can ask for that total amount of money for your time you would be paid via wage loss. You'll have to show some written documentation that you earn the amount that you ask for.
