13b REW Rotary Engine Tear Down

I received a message a couple of months ago from a buddy of mine in the rotary world that told me a guy close to where I live had an extra 13b REW that was looking to sell it cheap. After looking over a few photos, I know the engine wasn’t in great condition and it was obvious there was some parts missing and a little fire damage. I negotiated a fair price (~$450) that wouldn’t leave me hosed if the entire engine was junk and went and picked it up. Aside from the prospect of having another engine or extra parts, I took the opportunity to gain more knowledge and experience with the rotary engine. In this video, I disassemble the block and go over a few things to look for if you are tearing down a rotary engine and some things are applicable to piston engines too.
The process is really straightforward and the only real challenges are removing the front eccentric shaft bolt and flywheel nut. The lower exhaust manifold nuts can be difficult too if there is any corrosion on the nuts or studs. I cover my process/method for keeping parts organized which goes a long way for staying organized and helping in the future.
