How Does He Play So MELODICALLY!?

In this video, we analyze a randomly picked solo by none other, Alex Hahn himself. Please remember that all of these fancy words and the assigning of these notes to numbers are just a means of identifying/labeling patterns commonly found in the jazz solos we like to listen to. When we can identify things using common system of nomenclature, then we can share it with each other, replicate it and ultimately have it in our own playing. Knowing your theory doesn't automatically mean you will be a great improviser. There is no shortcut on that! There is no substitute to diving in, breaking apart the solo yourself, then trying to incorporate the unfamiliar language into your own solos through trial and error (try to keep the obvious plug-and-play in the practice room, unless it's the Mario Kart Lick). This video is to serve as a guide on how to do break apart a solo using nomenclature typically used by American Jazz Musicians! I hope you like it!
