One of the Christianized pre-Hispanic dances of the lowland Visayan people is “Ohoy Alibangbang“. There are many pre-Hispanic dances throughout the archipelago which mimics animals, plants and even insects. Alibangbang can be translated in the Filipino language as butterfly or dragonfly.

This guitar arrangement is based on Juan Silos, Jr.'s recording from his album Philippine Memories Vol. 2. His solo guitar rendition is accompanied with orchestration provided by the Villar Symphonette. I own a copy of the original vinyl album, but sadly it is undated and I can only guess this was recorded in the 50s or 60s. Silos also recorded another version with his rondalla musicians in the album Philippine Folk Dance, Vol. 8.
