Best walk in Dublin - Poolbeg Lighthouse

This is a must do, its free , and its not far from the City Centre of Dublin.
A Walk to the Poolbeg Lighthouse on the South Wall of Dublin Port.

To Get here, there are a few options,

1/Coming from the City, best take one of the Dublin Bikes, and Cycle down, takes about 20-25min.

2/ Walking, you can come throught the nature park on Sandymount Beach which is about 7km .

3/Get the Luas to the 3 Arena and walk over the East Link Bridge past Poolbeg Yacht Club, when you get to the Roundabout take the second exit and walk 2km on Pigeon Road, past the Incinerator, water treatment plant and then you will come to the old ESB Chimmeys (landmark) . Then stay right and follow the road , onto the seafront of Sandymount Beach ,past the nature park and walk about 3km to Poolbeg lighthouse.

Things to See; Watch all the Ships coming through the channel up the River Liffey from Massive Cruise Ships, Cargo Ships, Navy Ships, Tall Ships and private yachts.

Watch out for all the Wildlife, Birds of Prey, Birds ,Seals, Porpoises,Sea Otters, Fish Swimming along the edge of the pier.

Fishing is very Popular, Please respect the ego system.

Mr Hobbs Coffee has been serving Coffee on the South Wall since 2009 prices from Tea 2€, Coffee from 2.50€ ,Cold Drinks1.50€ but Try one of his famous Irish Coffee's for 6.50€. Serving mainly at weekends, but occasional weekdays.
Feel free to return your used cups for Disposal.
Note; No Toilets or Rubbish Bins, near Poolbeg Lighthouse, So Please be sure to take your Rubbish and use the Bathroom before you go.

Check The Weather Forcast before going and wear flat shoes. The Wall is very uneven and also watch for the Shipz Coming in as they can cause a wall of water to hit the pier.
