Kindness in Community Fund: Meet Voices of Hope

Voices of Hope (VoH) is a Kindness in Community Fund grantee and mental health charity, founded in 2017 by Genevieve Mora and Jazz Thornton, individuals who have personally battled mental illness. Using their past experiences and their passion for content creation, they built a new narrative around mental health. Over the years the VoH has grown into a community of people around Aotearoa and the world, who contribute to the ever evolving mental health conversation.

At Voices of Hope, they believe in the power of sharing your lived experience to create positive change. Their storytelling platform exists to bring better understanding of mental health challenges, promote help-seeking behaviors, useful resources, and ultimately spread hope.

Both founders actively participate in public speaking engagements at schools, corporations, and conferences, where they openly share their personal experiences. Much of Voices of Hope’s work is conducted online, harnessing the power of social media and content creation to connect with people wherever they are.

“The impact of the Kindness in the Community funding is massive as it will enable us to reach so many more people and remind them that the world is better with them in it! We are so grateful for the support and cannot wait to share the impact and change created thanks to this grant.”
