Japan and Pacific Northwest Earthquakes (Part 3 of 4)
Robert Butler, a University of Portland environmental science professor, talks about the March 11, 2011 Magnitude 9.0 earthquake and tsunami that impacted Northern Japan.
This talk, in 4 parts covers the Japan earthquake and how it can be compared to past and future Great earthquakes in the Pacific Northwest.
This part, Part 3, discusses evidence for a Great magnitude 9.0 earthquake in the Pacific Northwest that sent a deadly tsunami across the Pacific Ocean to Japan.
Butler is part of a team of Portland-area geoscience educators who provide teaching resources and information about newsworthy earthquakes, usually ones greater than 7.0 magnitude.
