$3,000 Countertops for $230? DIY Outdoor Kitchen Countertop Hack
You can build your dream outdoor kitchen too: atbbq.com/pages/atbbq-dream-kitchens-by-bourbon-moth-farmhouseish
Outdoor Kitchen PART 2 — the one where I think DIYing my own seamless tile countertops will be easy. But IT’S DONE AND I LOVE IT!
If you missed it, last week I built my kitchen frame, covered it in cement board, installed my stainless steel cabinets, and bricked it. All Things Barbecue helped me figure out my size and design and shipped the frame, cabinets, and appliances which made it SO easy.
Then over the weekend I got inspired to build a little lavender flower bed behind the kitchen using leftover brick — LOVE.
And this week has been all about countertops and appliances.
I got quoted $3000 for stone countertops out here and thought NO WAY. I can make my own for less. So I bought two large scale porcelain tiles rated for outdoor use for $230. But I quickly realized I couldn’t run them through my tile saw.
So I cut them to size with my circular saw and a diamond blade, used my tile saw to cut and bevel all my edge pieces, and used my angle grinder with diamond blades to cut and bevel my main countertop pieces.
Then I used a putty epoxy to fill my edge seams before polishing and touching up with paint to match the countertop color. Not perfect by any means but saving $2750? Totally worth it!
Once the countertops were done, it was just the appliances left! Installed my built-in gas grill and Yoder Smokers Built-In Pellet Grill which I cannot wait to use!
ATBBQ made the process so approachable! Let me know what you think!!
