Cowgirl Creamery
Bay Area dairy dynasty descended on Kanbar Hall for a sold-out, thought-provoking conversation. Cowgirl Creamery’s Sue Conley and Peggy Smith were joined by Straus Family Creamery’s Albert Straus and Sunset Magazine food editor Margo True to celebrate the release of Sue and Peggy’s new book, Cowgirl Creamery Cooks. More than simply a talk about cheese, the quartet discussed everything from cheese making to the relationship between farmer and producer, as well as the importance of organizations like the Marin Agricultural Land Trust (MALT) in preserving farms and ranches and maintaining contiguous open landscapes that are home to wildlife, grasslands, and woods. The evening ended on a delicious note, with cheese from Cowgirl Creamery and wine from Justice Grace Vineyards, as well Straus Family Creamery ice cream.
