Hercules encounters a brine puddle, the smaller cousin of the Brine Pool (we'll be visiting some brine pools next week - keep an eye out!) Brine pools in the Gulf of Mexico are formed from "salt tectonics," where salt layers that formed during the Jurassic period have moved and shaped the seafloor.
