North Sea, also called the Old North Sea, is a Swedish song in waltz time with sailor motif. Lyrics and music were written by Martin Nilsson. The song was commissioned by the Cooperative Union, KF, and was sung in 1931 by the John Wilhelm Hagberg, under the pseudonym Wilhelm Arne. The song was called Summer Sailing.
North Sea was included in the City Council's commercial We go to London, which was recorded in 1935. By then, the text written on a North Sea theme. The song is often associated with the artist Harry Brandelius, who played in the North Sea on Oct. 16, 1944. Other artists who have recorded the North Sea is Fred Åkerström (Disc Seafarers and landlubbers, 1978), a certain singer Stefan Ljungqvist (Ivoire's pearls, 2000) and accordionist Calle Jularbo. Nordsjön, även kallad Gamla Nordsjön, är en svensk sång i valstakt med sjömansmotiv. Text och musik skrevs av Martin Nilsson.
