What is a Data Lake

WHAT IS A DATA LAKE // You may have heard the term data lake when it comes to how data is captured and stored. What’s different about a data lake vs data warehouse or a data lake vs data mart?

We’ll look at what each of these contain - why you would use them - who uses them and how quick they are to make changes to.

Data lakes are set up to accept all kinds of data. Think of a data lake as the largest way to store data and there are offshoots underneath.

A data warehouse is a structured subset of a data lake. It is more defined and intended to be broadly used within an organization.

A data mart is smaller yet - intended for very specific audiences / users within an organization.
