Review of the viral Arashiyama Itsukichaya restaurant in Kyoto!

This restaurant is known for its lunch set of 5 different rice bowls, served with a drop dead gorgeous view.

Here is what you need to know!

The set is 4k yen ($26) and the meal is timed so you have less than an hour to enjoy it. That was definitely enough time to get content and eat, but if you're used to long leisurely lunches, this is not the place.

You can make reservations online and I recommend you do so, because this is a tiny restaurant and it gets booked. Be sure to ask for the riverside view and note any allergies or preferences on the reservation. They can't accommodate last minute changes or substitutions, so has to be done in advance.

If you're spending a day in Arashiyama, I definitely recommend this place for lunch! It's beautiful, relaxing, and the food was quite nice, though light. If you feel hungry soon after, there is plenty of street food in the area!
