Patellofemoral Pain Syndrome symptoms and causes | Physiotherapy

Patellofemoral Pain Syndrome (PFPS) is a common condition that affects the knee joint, typically characterized by pain around or behind the kneecap (patella). It is often referred to as "runner's knee," but it can also affect people who participate in other physical activities or even those who lead a sedentary lifestyle.

PFPS is believed to be caused by a combination of factors such as overuse, muscle imbalances, weak hip and core muscles, abnormal knee joint alignment, or a traumatic injury. It is more common in women than men and typically affects people between the ages of 16 and 50 years.
