Schloss Rotenturm (AT) - Houses of the Month Restorations

Our destination this time is Schloss Rotenturm, a fairytale castle masterfully restored to its original splendour thanks to the commitment and entrepreneurial spirit of its current owner, the Viennese insurance and real state specialist Prof. Heinz Schinner.
Schloss Rotenturm is located in the homonymous town in the spa region of sunny southern Burgenland. The first mentions of the existence of a castle where Rotenturm is located today date back to the 16th century. Over the course of 500 years, the building has undergone destructions, fires, changes of hands and decay, experiencing its period of maximum grandeur at the beginning of the 20th century. In 2008, Prof. Heinz Schinner bought the castle and between 2008 and 2016 he carefully refurbished it in collaboration with the Austrian Federal Office of Monuments and based on a project co-financed by the ERDF (European Regional Development Fund). Today, part of the castle can be rented for weddings or other events.
