100 Years Abandoned | Hospital on an Island in the Pacific Ocean | Destination Adventure.

Some adventures go just as planned and some are a failure. Sometimes you get lucky, and they don't go as planned but they are better than you could have possibly expected. This is one of those adventures. Leaving the port for this explore, I had intended to find the abandoned Doctors Mansion, because I was told that there was nothing left of the old Quarantine Hospital on Dodge Island. This adventure was actually quite the contrary. Do to vandals, the historic Doctors Mansion has recently been demolished. This is so unfortunate, because that history is now gone forever. Enough of my complaining though, because I still had an amazing adventure and found that the old hospital is still in fact on the island and in relatively good condition, given that it has been abandoned since 1912. It actually ended up taking me three trips to get this footage together, because the Evinrude finally had its first temper tantrum, and I had to get my first ever tow off the ocean. Not the way that I like to do thing, but thats part of the risk and reality of the adventure lifestyle. As much as the world is full of bad people, good people are also in no short supply and I only bobbed around in the ocean for about 20 minutes before a nice couple cruised over and offered a tow.
After leaving the Hospital Island, and discovering that the Doctors house was no more, it was time to do some random exploring and let me tell you there is no shortage of things to find here. A little trip through dodge cove led me to some very neat old cabins and what appeared to be maybe an old dry dock. I'm still learning all of this coastal stuff. Once the weather started to turn, I headed back but somehow managed to just cruise on past the port and keep exploring. You know how I do ;). This was such a fun one for me, and I hope that you all enjoy it as well. The world sure is a beautiful place, and I am loving the opportunity to explore it once again.
