2nd Take Video SW Yeasu FT991A Memory Groups Compartmentalize blocks 20 - Menu item “034 MEM GROUP”
Standard Memory 1-99 and Memory Groups of 20
By default the Yaesu FT991 has 1-99 memory groups, there is a setting “034 MEM GROUP” under the "MENU/SETUP" that allows the operator to compartmentalize these memory locations into isolated blocks of 20, this allows the user to take RT systems software and quickly build a custom profile, the below link shares a quick insight into the RT Systems FT991A programming software, then the below might give you an experience to handle banks or 20 memory locations isolated from others, with scanning of the 20 memory locations separate from the complete memory bank of 1-99

Default Memory Configuration “034 MEM GROUP” = DISABLED
Standard Memory Group (1-99)
Programable Memory Scanning (P-1L/U - P-9L/U)
60 Meter Channelized (P5MHz-01 to P5MHz-10)
This video demonstrates how to take the 1-99 Memory channels and breaks the into six individual memory banks the banks are designated as:
Memory Location (Memory Groups) “034 MEM GROUP” = ENABLED
Group # 1 (1-19)
Group # 2 (20-39)
Group # 3 (40-59)
Group # 4 (60-79)
Group # 5 (80-99)
Group # 6 (P-1L/U - P-9L/U)
Group # 7 (P5MHz-01 to P5MHz-10)
To access these separate banks this must be done under the “MENU/SETUP”.
1. Press the “MENU/SETUP” button to enter the Menu mode.
2. Rotate the “MULTI” function knob to select Menu item “034 MEM GROUP”
3. Tap “SELECT” on the LCD, rotate the “knob “MULTI” function knob to select "ENABLE”
4. Tap "ENTER" on the LCD to save the new setting.
5. Press “MENU/SETUP” or the “BACK” button on the LCD screen to exit, operation will be restricted to the six Memory groups.
To cancel the memory groups operation return, perform steps 1-5 Below:
1. Press the “MENU/SETUP” button to enter the Menu mode.
2. Rotate the “MULTI” function knob to select Menu item “034 MEM GROUP”
3. Tap “SELECT” on the LCD, then rotate the knob “MULTI” function knob to “DISABLE”
4. Tap "ENTER" on the LCD to save the new setting.
5. Press “MENU/SETUP” or the “BACK” button on the LCD screen to exit, operation will be the normal 1-99 Memory groups. Page 33 of 37

To access these separate banks:
1. Press the “V/M” button to enter the Memory mode look for “MEM” in upper left corner.
2. Press the “F/M-LIST” button then tap “GRP” on the LCD screen, the “GRP” will appear on the screen lower left of the frequency replacing “MEM”.
3. Rotate the “MULTI” function knob, to scroll the six Memory Banks, when scrolling you will see the first memory location of each of the banks displayed for example: MEM01, MEM20, MEM40, MEM60, MEM80 P-1L/U and P5MHz-01
MEM01 = Group # 1 (1-19)
MEM20 = Group # 2 (20-39)
MEM40 = Group # 3 (40-59)
MEM60 = Group # 4 (60-79)
MEM80 = Group # 5 (80-99)
P-1L = (P-1L/U - P-9L/U)
P5MHz-01 = (P5MHz-01 to P5MHz-10)
*Note if the memory bank and no programming/empty, it will be skipped while turning the “MULTI” knob with “GRP” on.
4. Once the desired memory group is selected press “MCH” then the “GRP” on the LCD display will change to “MCH”, then you are able to scroll the individual 20 memories in that bank.
5. Rotate the “MULTI” function knob until the desired memory channel is selected within the group.
